Abstract
Acute tumour lysis syndrome results from a rapid massive release of ce
llular breakdown products consequent upon tumour cell death following
effective therapy. This may overwhelm normal excretory mechanisms, res
ulting in metabolic disturbance which can lead to sudden death or prol
onged morbidity from renal impairment.
