A phenomenological model of electron mobility in liquid hydrocarbons i
s presented, which incorporates ballistic motion in the quasi-free sta
te, showing that this effect predominates in the low-mobility case. Ev
en for infinite quasi-free mobility finite overall mobility results du
e to random cycles of trapping and detrapping. Experimental comparison
for n-hexane, a typical low-mobility liquid, reveals quasi-free mobil
ity, trap density and binding energy in the trap at room temperature r
espectively as almost-equal-to 100 cm2/V s, 10(19) cm-3 and 0.15 eV.
