Jm. Allison et al., A MEASUREMENT SYSTEM FOR PRECISE DETERMINATION OF THE REFRACTIVE-INDEXES OF ANESTHETIC AGENT VAPORS, Measurement science & technology, 4(5), 1993, pp. 571-577
To establish the relationship between measured refractivity and gas co
ncentration, a measurement system has been developed which can precise
ly determine the absolute refractive indices of medical vapours and ga
ses at a wavelength of 633 nm. The refractive index of chloroform vapo
ur has been measured over the respective pressure and temperature rang
es of 1 to 9 kPa and 15 to 40-degrees-C with an uncertainty of better
than +/-8 parts in 10(8). The specific refraction and the second viria
l coefficient of chloroform have also been derived.
