CHEMICAL-ELEMENTS ACCUMULATION IN OCEANIC IRON-MANGANESE NODULES

The new model for accumulation of metals in iron-manganese nodules is suggested. According to this model the equilibrium constants of sorpti on equilibrium reactions of metals are proportional to the hydrolysis constants but are shifted compared to the latter and depend on the amo unt of the difference between the pH of pure water (7.0) and pH of the isoelectric point of the mineral. On the basis of this model the conc entrations of some heavy in manganese nodules have been calculated whi ch were in accordance with the observed values.
