Abstract
We employ computer-optimized synthetic acousto-optic holograms to conv ert a laser beam (not necessarily Gaussian) into a nearly uniform-inte nsity partially coherent field in the Fourier plane. The width of the flat-top region can be controlled electronically in real time.
