Yh. Li et al., EXPANDED INDICATION - DIAGNOSIS OF PULMONARY-EMBOLISM BY TRANSESOPHAGEAL ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY, International journal of cardiology, 39(1), 1993, pp. 91-92
Transesophageal echocardiography is a useful diagnostic tool not only
in examination of the heart, but also in examination of the great arte
ries. Its role in the diagnosis of aortic aneurysm and dissection has
been well-established. The pulmonary artery, especially the right pulm
onary artery, also can be visualized clearly by this technique. In thi
s report, we described a patient with massive pulmonary embolism which
was diagnosed by transesophageal echocardiography, and was confirmed
by pulmonary angiography.
