Abstract
Trapping in a tube filled. with active charcoal, followed by desorptio n by an appropriate solvent, is largely used for preconcentration of s amples before chromatographic analysis during studies of environmental pollution or of industrial health. This paper shows a new method, bas ed on the use of an exponential diluter to determine the absorption ca pacity of these traps and to measure the desorption efficiency of the solvent used. The method has been applied for testing the properties o f traps filled with active charcoal fibres made from polyacrylonitrile .
