D. Morel et al., EFFECT OF FAMOTIDINE ON RENAL-TRANSPLANT PATIENTS TREATED WITH CYCLOSPORINE-A, Fundamental and clinical pharmacology, 7(3-4), 1993, pp. 167-170
The influence of a 7-day course of 40 mg famotidine administered orall
y on the pharmacokinetics of ciclosporine A at steady-state has been i
nvestigated in 10 renal transplant patients. Famotidine did not appear
to significantly alter the pharmacokinetics of ciclosporine A. This m
ight be ascribed to the limited potential of famotidine for inhibiting
microsomal enzyme function. Moreover, plasma creatinine concentration
s and creatinine clearance remained stable. Our results suggest that f
amotidine has no noticeable interaction with ciclosporine A.
