Abstract
The synthesis of 4-benzoyl-5-phenyl-1,3-oxathiol-2-ones 1 and the beha viour of la against several amines were investigated to afford aminome rcaptoethenes 2 or thiocarbamates 3, as well as complete cleavage to s ulfur, dibenzoylmethane and the corresponding urea, depending on the n ature of the N-nucleophile used.
