We report the electrochemical synthesis and conductivity of the transi
tion metal chelate-fulleride compound [Ru(bpy)3](C60)2 (where bpy = 2,
2'-bipyridine). This compound was prepared via the electrogeneration o
f C60- in dichloromethane media saturated with Ru(bpy)3(PF6)2. Two poi
nt conductivity measurements demonstrate that this black crystalline m
aterial exhibits Arrhenius behavior typical of semiconductors at tempe
ratures between 80 and 308 K. The specific conductivity at 298.15 K is
0.01 OMEGA-1 cm-1, and the activation energy is 0.15 eV.
