The reactions of the Mo=S unit in the [(Cp)Mo(O)(mu-S)2Mo(O)(S)]- comp
lex with SO2 at various temperatures give various products of the type
[(CP)Mo(O)(mu-S)2Mo(O)(L)]- (L = SO32-, S2O32- , and SO42-). A H-1-NM
R study of these reactions indicates that the final products isolated
and structurally characterized are derivatives of the unstable [(Cp)Mo
(O)(mu-S)2Mo(O)(S2O2)]-complex that forms initially by SO2 addition to
the Mo=S unit and undergoes further reactions with SO2.
