J. Li et Pk. Vogt, THE RETROVIRAL ONCOGENE QIN BELONGS TO THE TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR FAMILY THAT INCLUDES THE HOMEOTIC GENE FORK HEAD, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United Statesof America, 90(10), 1993, pp. 4490-4494
Avian sarcoma virus 31 contains an oncogene that we have named qin. qi
n codes for a nuclear protein, Qin, that is a member of the HNF-3/fork
head family of transcriptional regulators. Within this family Qin is
particularly closely related to rat brain factor 1 (BF-1), a telenceph
alon-specific gene presumed to play an important role in the developme
nt of the mammalian brain.
