Abstract
Yttrium oxide coatings were obtained by plasma spray. Structural inves tigations on these deposits show that, due to the drastic conditions o f this technique, a minor monoclinic B phase is formed in the neighbor hood of the major cubic C form. We discuss here the influence of diffe rent plasma spray parameters on the amount of the B phase formed. We d escribe also the main properties of Y2O3 B and C phases in these depos its such as structural characteristics, thermal stability and mechanic al behavior.
