Abstract
An experiment was conducted during 1985-86, 1986-87 and 1987-88 on a r ed-brown terrace soil to find out the optimium fertilizer dose for upl and cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.). 'Rupali' cotton was tested in 14 t reatment combinations of N, P, K, S and Zn. Application of N120 P52 K7 5 S20 and Zn5 kg/ha increased the yield by 197, 43, 46, 56 and 20% com pared with their respective control treatments. This ratio also proved optimum for higher seed-cotton yield and for obtaining the highest gr oss margin (Rs 20 881/ha) and the maximum marginal rate of return (1 6 33%) as well.
