Abstract
The dependence of oscillator strengths, f for E1 transitions from the ground state of ions of carbon and oxygen isoelectronic sequences have been studied on the gauge conditions K of the electromagnetic field. In general, this dependence is quadratic in K. The accuracy of various types of wavefunctions is assessed by assigning a figure of merit to the wavefunctions. It is also shown that when f = 0, the upper root of the quadratic equation in K is nearly a constant for configuration in teraction wavefunctions which can then be used for interpolation of f values.
