In this article, we have investigated the relativistic impacts on impu
rity states. Our treatment is concerned with a model consisting of a (
rectangular) barrioer or well type potential embedded substitutionally
in an infinite crystal with rectangular barrier type potentials. Our
method is based on relativistic generalisation of an approach due to S
axon and Hutner. Our study shows that there are many realistic circums
tances under which the relativistic impacts on impurity states can be
quite significant.
