Abstract
The absorption of infrared radiation in quantum wells due to intersubb and hole transitions has been studied. The selection rules for these t ransitions have been found and the profiles of the absorption lines we re determined. Depolarization was forward to alter significantly the p osition, profile, and amplitude of an absorption line. The absorption in Si and GaAs quantum wells has been estimated.
