Cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes of sodium 2-[4-amino-5
-methyl-3-(1,2,4-triazolylazo)] naphthol-4-sulphonate (AMeTN-4S = LNa)
were isolated and characterised by elemental analyses, magnetic susce
ptibility measurements, infrared and electronic spectral data. These c
omplexes were found to have high spin octahedral geometries. For all t
he complexes coordination occurs via azo nitrogen, amino nitrogen and
hydroxyl oxygen. Various ligand field parameters for the complexes wer
e also evaluated.
