Kinetics of the thermolysis of potential nitrification inhibitors base
d on the derivatives of 3(5)-methylpyrazole (MP), 1-carbamoyl-3(5)-met
hylpyrazole (CMP), 1-hydroxymethyl-3(5)-methylpyrazole (HMP), and 3(5)
-methylpyrazolyl phosphate (MPP), have been studied by thermogravimetr
y. Thermal stability is increased by substitution at the nitrogen atom
in the series MPP > CMP > HMP > MP. Activation parameters have been c
alculated from the thermal stability data, and methods are proposed fo
r introducing the inhibitors into fertilizers and their granulation.
