Abstract
This paper describes a problem, known as the Personnel Assignment Prob lem, for assigning personnel into positions in a military setting. Par t of the challenge of the assignment is in determining a number that m easures the 'fit' of an individual in a position. A value is construct ed from the data for each pairing of an individual with a position.
