This research note brings out the methods of preparation and the fluor
escence spectral properties of TbCl3 and TbF3 (0.1 M%) doped CaS, LaOC
l, LaOF, YOCI and YOF powder phosphors. By UV radiation excitation the
se phosphors have displayed green emission of varied intensity, depend
ing on both the host as well as the dopant ligands in the samples stud
ied. Certain emission levels of these phosphors have been characterize
d by evaluating their stimulated emission cross-sections to understand
the host environmental effects on their fluorescence behaviours.
