Thermochemical data have been determined for a number of compounds of
fission products and reactor materials. Critical assessments have also
been made of the available thermochemical data on a number of systems
. The studies have focused on the vaporization of iodides, such as ind
ium iodide and cadmium iodide, and of ternary oxide compounds, such as
caesium ruthenate, borate, molybdate and phosphate. The thermodynamic
properties of condensed phases such as CdI2, Cs2CdI4, Cs2RuO4, Cs2Si4
O9 and Cs2ZrO3 have also been measured. The data enable the speciation
of fission products and their transport in the event of a severe reac
tor accident to be predicted with greater confidence.
