Ta. Timofeeva et Ea. Koticova, NERVOUS-SYSTEM OF THE MONOGENEANS OF THE ORDERS TETRAONCHOIDEA AND DACTYLOGYROIDEA (MONOGENEA), Parazitologia, 27(2), 1993, pp. 118-126
Structure of the nervous system of Tetraonchus monenteron, Dactylogyru
s sp., Lygophorus sp. has been studied using the cholinesterase method
. The nervous system of these monogeneans is characterized by several
commissures connecting three pairs of longitudinal trunks and by the c
haracter of innervation of the front and haptor parts of the body. Pos
ition of the haptoral ganglions is not correlated with position and nu
mbers of the hamuli. Absence of circular nervous structures in the hap
tor may be explained by functional peculiarities of the haptor in thes
e monogenean groups.
