Vn. Voronin, THE MICROSPORIDIUM TOXOSPORA-VOLGAE GEN-N , SP-N FROM CHIRONOMIDAE LARVAE OF THE GENUS CORYNONEURA, Parazitologia, 27(2), 1993, pp. 148-154
The ultrastructure of the octosporous microsporidium Toxospora volgae
gen. n., sp. n. is studied. In the beginning of sporogony there is dip
locaryon. Stages of sporogony are limited by thin and fragile envelope
of the sporophorous vesicle. The C-from, 0.7-0.8X6-8 mm long spores h
ave one elongated nucleus, a layered exospore and a polar tube of unus
ual construction. The polaroplast consists of two parts - anterior clo
sely paked lamellae and posterior tube/chambered. The microsporidium i
s compared to Toxoglugea microsporidia. The taxonomic relations betwee
n the genera Toxoglugea and Toxospora are discussed.
