Abstract
The use of recyclable polymer supported benzyltriethylammonium dichlor oiodate and tetrachloroiodate reagents in the alpha-halogenation of ke tones by batch technique is described. The reagents were prepared by p olymer analogous conversions using polystyrene crosslinked with ethyle neglycol dimethacrylate as the carrier matrix. Tetrachloroiodate reage nt was found to have higher reactivity compared to dichloroiodate reag ent. The effect of reaction conditions such as nature of the solvent, temperature and effective molar concentration of the reagent were inve stigated. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
