Gj. Hwang et al., DEVELOPING LAMINAR-FLOW AND HEAT-TRANSFER IN A SQUARE DUCT WITH ONE-WALLED INJECTION AND SUCTION, International journal of heat and mass transfer, 36(9), 1993, pp. 2429-2440
A numerical study was made to investigate the forced laminar convectio
n in the entrance region of a square duct with one wall subjected to u
niform mass transpiration and constant heat flux. Using the concept of
pressure deviation and the vorticity-velocity method, the three-dimen
sional Navier-Stokes equations and the governing energy equation were
solved simultaneously. Results show that flow reversal occurs in the f
low with strong suction. Typical velocity, pressure and temperature di
stributions along the flow direction are reported. Both local friction
factors and Nusselt numbers in the developing and fully developed reg
ions are examined. The Prandtl number effect is also discussed in the
present numerical analysis.
