Lv. Thomas et Jwt. Wimpenny, METHOD FOR INVESTIGATION OF COMPETITION BETWEEN BACTERIA AS A FUNCTION OF 3 ENVIRONMENTAL-FACTORS VARIED SIMULTANEOUSLY, Applied and environmental microbiology, 59(6), 1993, pp. 1991-1997
Competition between microorganisms as affected by temperature, pH, and
the sodium chloride (NaCl) concentration was investigated by selectiv
e replication from gradient plates. Salmonella typhimurium was inhibit
ed by Pseudomonas putida at 20 and 23-degrees-C but not 30 and 35-degr
ees-C. P. putida no longer grew at the extremes of pH and NaCl concent
ration, particularly at 30 and 35-degrees-C.
