Abstract
The analysis of elements in the range 1 less-than-or-equal-to Z less-t han-or-equal-to 10 is often difficult by most contemporary methods mai nly because of unavoidable matrix effects. This paper examines the pra ctical utility of various ion-beam techniques on light-element analysi s, and provides a comprehensive evaluation of the major analytical asp ects on determinations of this nature, with particular reference to wo rk done in South Africa.
