Abstract
A model for the electronic structure of surface layers of transition m etal alloys is suggested. The model has been applied for the calculati on of the electron density of states and surface segregations in Pd-Ru alloys. An analysis of experimental results concerning catalytic prop erties of the same alloys has been carried out and a mechanism for cat alytic hydrogenation of acetylenic alcohols has been proposed.
