The intermediate time dependence of the survival probability in two-di
mensional diffusive dynamics is investigated on a model myoglobin-CO p
otential-energy surface. For small diffusion anisotropy, we derive a s
caling relation for the characteristic time and exponent of the observ
ed power-law dependence, which is verified by exact two-dimensional ca
lculations. At higher anisotropy values, we report a critical-like jum
p in the anisotropy dependence of the power-law exponent. Possible exp
erimental implications axe discussed.
