Abstract
NTT Laboratories began a comprehensive multi-phased series of field tr ials in 1991 with the goal of turning its VI&P service vision for the 21st century into reality. This article gives an overview of these com prehensive trials covering everything from wireless services to broadb and networking applications, and briefly mentions a number of experime ntal projects that still lie ahead.
