Abstract
In order to realize a narrow track recording mechanism of VCRs, a new concept DTF(Dynamic Track Following) system using a small actuator has been developed. A major problem in the DTF system for the high densit y recording lies in the mechanical vibration characteristics of the sm all actuator by which a head is moved. In this paper, a damping contro l system with a velocity feedback loop for realizing the high performa nce DTF system is described, and this velocity feedback system makes i t possible to suppress the first mode vibration of the small actuator remarkably.
