Abstract
N-(1-Haloalkyl)azinium halides react with methyl 3-amino-2-butenoate t o yield 4-substituted dimethyl -dihydro-2,6-di-methyl-3,5-pyridinedica rboxylates. The rates of formation of the latter compounds are monitor ed by H-1-NMR spectroscopy. Mechanistic and practical considerations a re discussed.
