Abstract
Complexes of the Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions with a novel branched macrocyclic ligand containing 2,2'-bipyridine and 9-methyl-1,10-phenanthroline sub units have been synthesized and their photophysical properties have be en studied. Interestingly, the presence of phenanthroline subunits in the branches gives rise to enhanced electronic absorption and increase d stability in water.
