Principles for analyzing dryer-section steam and condensate systems ar
e reviewed. The objective of the analysis is to develop a set of flow
schematics covering the dryer section's full range of operating pressu
res. With the flow schematics in hand, system performance can be evalu
ated to identify problem areas. Many problems are related to improperl
y sized siphons or lines, improper control settings, or miscalibrated
control equipment. The flow schematics are based on theoretical drying
models and information gathered in the field. Relevant field measurem
ents needed to develop the flow schematics are identified.
