M. Fukuyama et al., EFFECTS OF MONOSUBSTITUTED PHENOL ADDITIVES ON THE ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES OF ELECTROCHEMICALLY SYNTHESIZED POLYPYRROLE, Synthetic metals, 58(3), 1993, pp. 367-371
Polypyrrole (PPy) which is electrochemically synthesized with a mono-s
ubstituted phenol additive has enhanced conductivity, thermal stabilit
y and tensile strength. From elemental analysis data, mass spectra and
FT-IR spectra, there is no obvious evidence that the additive is inco
rporated in PPy. Electronic absorption spectra and laser Raman spectra
show that the additive reduces the polaron peak and enhances the bipo
laron peak. The increased structural regularity is considered to be th
e reason for the improvement of the electrical and mechanical properti
es.
