B. Arthur et Aa. Este, APPLICATION OF WORK RENOVATION PLANNING AND SYSTEMS PERFORMANCE TRAINING AT RIO-ALGOM STANLEIGH OPERATIONS, CIM bulletin, 86(970), 1993, pp. 64-69
Rio Algom's Stanleigh Mine and Mill Operation was officially started u
p in August 1983. In September 1982, Rio Algom contracted Estonix Inte
rnational Inc, from Lively, Ontario, to develop and implement two inno
vative programs: (1) Work Renovation Planning, and (2) Systems Perform
ance Training. This PaPer deals with the development and implementatio
n of these two concepts relative to the plants technology from start-u
p to Present and the exceptional results achieved. This paper discusse
s how a small but motivated workforce resulted in the smooth transitio
n from start-up to full production. It also deals with how these conce
pts were applied elsewhere in the organization which permitted a succe
ssful transition and downsizing of the over-all operation.
