The quantities characterizing stopping including the dynamic width of
the particle states, the stopping power and the energy-loss straggling
of slow antiparticles (with negative nuclear charges) passing an elec
tron gas are evaluated within a scattering theory approach. The requir
ed effective scattering potential is obtained from a self-consistent d
ensity-functional calculation. The stopping characteristics of antipar
ticles as a function of charge \Z(1)\ are quite different from those o
f normal particles.
