GIANT-CELL FIBROBLASTOMA

A report of a 1 1/2-year-old male child diagnosed as a case of giant c ell fibroblastoma is described and the available literature on this ne oplasm is reviewed. The tumor consists of a mixture of spindle cells a nd multinucleated giant cells in a myxoid or collagenous background. T he pathological findings and clinical course suggest that these tumors be classified with fibromatoses of childhood. Removal of the tumor wi th wide excision is sufficient and these patients do not require any f orm of chemotherapy.
