Abstract
ABP50 is a polypeptide elongation factor 1alpha from Dictyostelium tha t is associated with the actin cytoskeleton. Upon chemotactic stimulat ion, ABP50 undergoes a dramatic cytoplasmic redistribution into newly formed surface projections and in vitro binds to and bundles actin fil aments. Many questions are raised by this interaction pertaining to th e spatiotemporal regulation of protein synthesis and cytoskeletal orga nization by extracellular signals.
