PSEUDOELEMENT COMPOUNDS .5. PSEUDOCHALCOGENS - AN ATTEMPT OF AN EMPIRICAL AND THEORETICAL CHARACTERIZATION

Chalcogen and pseudochalcogen derivatives of the types H2Y and H2C = Y (Y = O, S, NCN, NNC, C(CN)2, CNN, CCO, CNOH, BCN, PCN, Si(CN)2) were investigated by means of empirical and quantum chemical methods. In th is way chalcogens and pseudochalcogens can be quantitatively compared according to their electronegativity, thermochemical behaviour, struct ural type and their nucleophilic or electrophilic character, respectiv ely. The different pseudoelements can, from the point of view of the r espectively considered property, be assigned to certain elements of th e sixth main group.
