Abstract
Precipitation in a series of MgO-CaO-ZrO2 ceramics containing variable MgO:CaO ratios (Mg,Ca-PSZs) aged at 1400-degrees-C was studied. Preci pitate morphology varied systematically with composition, and ''layeri ng'' of individual precipitates by variant, due to strain-induced coar sening, was observed in some samples. Strain energy calculations to pr edict precipitate-matrix habit planes were performed and compared to e xperiment.
