Abstract
In a one-pot reaction, manganese dioxide in stoicheiometric amounts an d acetyl chloride transform alkyl phenyl sulphides into the correspond ing 1-alkenyl phenyl sulphides; these latter products can undergo chlo rination of the double bond promoted by the excess manganese dioxide.
