T. Kosugi et al., ADSORPTION-DESORPTION HYSTERESIS IN THE ADSORPTION-ISOTHERMS FOR KR AND XE ON EXFOLIATED GRAPHITE, Surface science, 287, 1993, pp. 862-865
The adsorption/desorption hysteresis which appears in the adsorption i
sotherm for Kr physisorbed on exfoliated graphite has a very character
istic feature. A sharp transition at the termination of the hysteresis
in the desorption branch of the isotherm suggests a first-order phase
transition. The temperature dependence of the hysteresis for Kr and X
e on exfoliated graphite was investigated. The origin of the hysteresi
s of Kr is thought to be capillary condensation accompanied by a liqui
d-solid phase transition.
