Kinetic analysis of binding of the delta-opiate receptor agonist [H-3]
DADLE with suspensions of NG108-15 cells revealed a previously unknown
periodic biological phenomenon - oscillations of receptor activity. T
he absence of oscillations for binding of antagonist with receptors su
ggests that the oscillations only occur when the receptor signal is tr
ansformed. Correlation of quantitative characteristics of kinetic curv
es and experimental conditions suggests that the oscillations of recep
tor activity may be due to an interaction of the receptor with G-prote
in or of the receptor (or G-protein) with microtubules.
