Ac. Gomes et al., CRYSTAL-STRUCTURE OF N-(4-NITROPHENYL)-N-PHENYLSULFONAMIDE, Journal of crystallographic and spectroscopic research, 23(6), 1993, pp. 513-517
The crystal structure of N-(4-nitrophenyl)-N-phenylsulfonamide (C18H14
N2O4S), a derivative of sulfonamide, has been determined by X-ray diff
raction method using CuKalpha radiation. The compound crystallizes in
the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n, with a = 24.463(1), b = 5.745(2),
c = 11.428(3) angstrom and beta = 94.39(2)-degrees. The structure was
solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least squares to a
final R value of 0.045 with 3032 unique reflections. The dihedral ang
le between the substituents phenyl ring B and the phenyl A is 94.7(3)-
degrees. The S atom is in the usual distorted tetrahedral configuratio
n.
