B. Wiese et al., SEEDS FROM TAGETE-MINUTA L CHEMICAL-COMPOSITION OF SEED OIL AND RESIDUAL SEED MEAL, Anales de la Asociacion Quimica Argentina, 80(6), 1992, pp. 487-491
Seeds from Tagete minuta L. harvested at Olavarria (Buenos Aires, Arge
ntine) were defatted with hexane, to yield the raw oil (yield:3.2% dry
basis;IN: 132.2). The physicochemical characteristics of the crude oi
l were determined, and the fatty acid composition was established [GLC
]:14:0 (0.1); 16:0 (14.6); 18:0 (2.3); 18:1 (4.8); 18:2 (78.2); traces
of 15:0; 18:3; 22:0 and 22:1. UV spectroscopic studies indicated the
presence of triene conjugate fatty acids. The residual seed meal conta
ined 25.14% d.b. of crude protein with low level of available lysine (
3.21 g/16 g N). Values of total phosphorous, ash., crude fiber, calciu
m, polysaccharides (non presence of starch) and <<residual lipids>> ar
e given.
