The data from a two and a half year field study were used to assess th
e performance of various suspended sediment transport modelling method
s. The models selected for this purpose were those proposed by Ackers-
White and by Sonnen and these have been assessed following site specif
ic calibrations. A modified version of the Ackers-white model and a ra
ting curve based on a regressional analysis of flowrate versus total s
uspended solids were also tried. The calibrated verion of the Ackers-W
hite model was selected as giving the best overall accuracy for storm
and dry weather conditions. A validation of the selected model using f
urther data for the same site gave approximately 69% of predicted conc
entrations between 1/2 and 2 times the observed values.
