N. Vrchotova et al., CHANGE OF ISOENZYME PATTERN DURING LONG-TERM POLYXENIC CULTIVATION OFENTAMOEBA-HISTOLYTICA, Annales de Parasitologie humaine et comparee, 68(2), 1993, pp. 67-69
Isoenzymes of phosphoglucomutase and hexokinase were repeatedly evalua
ted using starch gel electrophoresis in polyxenic cultures of Entamoeb
a histolytica. In two out of 18 strains spontaneous changes of isoenzy
me patterns were recorded. While originally they were categorized into
virulent group of zymodemes, following isoenzyme analysis classified
them as non-virulent. The relation between virulence and isoenzyme pat
tern is questionable.
