This paper reports the results of an investigation carried out from Ap
ril 1990 to October 1991 in the Amalfitan Coast, Salerno Province (Sou
thern Italy). One hundred and twenty-five species are used in traditio
nal medicine, belonging to 53 families; some of these were unknown in
Italian phytotherapy or present an unknown therapeutic use. For each s
pecies, the vernacular name, the formulation and the popular use are p
resented.
